Mike Billington was a handsome (and wonderfully hairy) British male actor, much in the same masculine style as Sean Connery. In fact, Billington was screen-tested for Live and Let Die (1973), Moonraker (1979), and Octopussy (1983). When it comes to show business (especially in the movie industry) there's a rich history of trying to cultivate men with this natural machismo into box office gold. Over his career, this straight actor developed a dedicated gay following. His sex appeal was obvious and photos like these only helped Billington to attract fans. VGMH is happy to celebrate Mike's career and hopefully help to introduce him to a new generation.
Mike was said to have been Albert R. Broccoli's first choice had Roger Moore not been available for 1981's For Your Eyes Only. Billington would ultimately appear in 1977's The Spy Who Loved Me, playing Sergei Barsov at the start of the film. His other film credits included Alfred the Great (1969) and KGB: The Secret War (1985).
